This year has been nothing short of challenging, painful and down right frustrating. It’s no surprise that most of us are going a little bonkers at this point. Summer seemed a little more promising, but with travel restriction, mask requirements, and all the controversy going on in the country and world I couldn’t help but feeling stuck. It is as if we stepped into quick sand at the bringing of the year and have been slowly sinking ever since. Hopefully 2021 will throw us a rope so we can be pulled from the sinking doom that we all feel trapped in. Even the holidays have us trapped and alone. Unable to visit with family and friends this will undoubtedly be a extremely difficult holiday season for so many.
Despite how bleak things may seem there is always light at the end of the tunnel. This can’t go on forever and it will get better eventually. With the changing of the seasons it has been exceptionally difficult here in the north east. With cloudy sunless skys, shorter days and colder weather finding joy and happiness becomes harder and harder. My heart goes out to those who find themselves alone and unable to see family and friends. Don’t lose hope. Get outside and go for a walk, have a lunch date with a friend over zoom, go for a ride on some back roads, paint, read a uplifting book, listen to music, get creative. Remember, you are not alone, we are all in this together.
Get outside, dont let this time get the best of you. Find the magic that is still out there and embrace it. Breathe in the beauty that is left in the world. Ignore all the bad stuff if only for a moment, close your eyes and find your peace. Smell the fresh air, feel the rain on your face or the warmth from the sun. listen to the beating of your own heart and know that regardless of how messed up this planet may be right now you are alive and that is a beautiful thing. Embrace every moment and celebrate the fact that you are alive.
Tommorow there will be new challenges new obstacles, but everything we go through will only make us stronger.
