Mount Monroe Trail

Updated: Jan 24, 2020

"There is a place I go when life gets too static and civilization seems far from civil. It is a place where they all know me and everywhere is free. Where i can sit in solitude and feel the Earth's energy. Be at peace with everything around me. Where I can hear the voices of animals. A place where I can speak the secret language of trees." - Emelia

The 9th 4,000 footer off the list and almost into the double digits. At the beginning of this year I never would have thought I would have summited nine 4,000 foot peaks. I made a decision in early spring to make this a goal of mine and I've been running with it ever since.

My son joined me out on the trail once again and we accomplished this 4,000 footer together. The trail followed the Ammonoosuc River and was a nice gradual hike until we crossed the river at the waterfall. Once we crossed the river it was straight up and rocky. The trail became pretty difficult after this. My son was a little nervous in some sections as it was pretty steep and had to do some rock scrambling. The rock climbing was definitely worth the views.

After a beautiful hike up the hardest part of the trail we finally reached the Lakes Of Clouds Hut. We rested here for a while before making the last ascent to the summit.  The 360 degree view was absolutely stunning. We took in the view for a while and then made our way back down the mountain, and already thinking about the next summit to conquer.
