Arethusa Falls & Frankenstein Cliffs
This trail is definitely a amazing trail to hike. It can be pretty busy during the summer but if you get there early in the season you will have the trail all to yourself. The highlight of this trail isn't only the spectacular view from the top but the stunning waterfall about half way up. Arethusa Falls is over 200 ft tall and is the tallest waterfall in New Hampshire. It is absolutely breathe taking. That isn't all this trail has to offer. Continue around the loop to reach a spectacular view from the Frankenstien Cliffs and then enjoy a scenic hike back down the trail and under a train trestle before making your way back to the parking lot.
I've hiked this trail 2 or 3 times now and it never gets old. The reward to simply see the waterfall is enough to keep me coming back over and over again.
Location: Hart's Location
Elevation Gain: 1,555 ft
Distance: 5 mile loop, including distance to waterfall
Time Frame: 3-4 hours moving
This trail has plenty of parking but still gets very crowded during the summer months. It is located off Rt. 302 and is well marked and very easy to find. This is a great trail for experienced hikers or newbies who are willing to give it a try. Either way the waterfall and view from the Frankenstein Cliffs are truly amazing.
