Get To Know Yourself

Life can be wonderful, a little weird and sometimes down right whacked. There is a lot I have learned over the past few years but nothing has taught me more than being alone with myself. Hiking in the mountains with only myself to face has definitely been a wake up call. It has also been an extremely rewarding experience.

There is no one else around to motivate you or hold a conversation with. If anything happens to go wrong you have to be able to rely on yourself to figure it out. To take initiative and be your own savior. Persevere because you want to, because you put yourself up to the challenge. Be your own mentor, your own coach, push yourself to a place you never have been before. Face the fears that have been holding you back. Change your thoughts and actions.

Hiking alone has given me the chance to really get to know myself.Getting out there on the trail gives you the opportunity to really connect on a deeper level with yourself and the world around you. Its a time and opportunity to become aware of your thoughts and really understand whats going on in that head of yours. I know for me with such a busy schedule sometimes it's easy to get lost in the day to day trivial things. It can be easy to lose sight of whats important and lose yourself along the way.

That's why i truly enjoy hiking alone. It doesn't have to always be hiking either. It could just be a walk or spending time in the garden. The point is to just get out there. Get outside, spend some time with yourself. Get to know the real you again.

"Keep taking time for yourself until you are you again." Lalah Delia
